Orthotics and Insoles
Foot orthotics are an insole designed to provide support and alter the pressures that are exerted on our feet during lifes activities.
They can be used to treat injury to the leg, foot and ankle, or provide improved comfort.
Our Podiatrists at Berwick Podiatry are trained to assess whether orthotics are a suitable treatment.
We offer a full range of orthotics and insoles, and will select the right orthotic to help you with your concerns.
Do I need orthotics?
Not everyone needs orthotics, however for certain injuries and pain, orthotics can make a big difference in your recovery. They can also be used to improve general day to day comfort.
Our Podiatrists will first complete a thorough assessment to determine the cause of your pain or discomfort, and establish whether orthotics are are an appropriate treatment for you. This will include looking at the structure of your feet, the way you walk, the strength of the muscles in your foot and ankle, and your current footwear.
Custom Orthotics
Custom orthotics are insoles that are designed specifically for your feet and the mechanics of the way you walk.
They are generally more comfortable as they are made to suit your feet, but also can be designed to treat specific conditions and address the source of your pain.
At Berwick Podiatry we use the latest 3D scanning technology to design your orthotic, which is then 3D printed.
This allows us to create an insole that is lightweight and low bulk so we can ensure it fits well in your shoes.
Common conditions that we may use orthotics as part of your treatment plan:
- Plantar Fasciitis/Plantar Heel Pain
- Pain associated with foot posture
- Neuroma and Bursitis
- Ankle or Knee Pain
- Arthritis
Pre-made Orthotics
We also stock a large range of pre-made orthotic insoles that are perfect for improving foot comfort and treating some concerns.
These insoles can be more cost effective if deemed appropriate for your concern.
They can be great for children who are likely to grow out of insoles quickly.
They will fit into most shoes, and can usually be fitted same day.
